East Northamptonshire YAT decided late in 2009 to create a music event for several reasons: to revitalise the local music scene, promote youth volunteer work in the local area and to also raise money for the charity Zach’s Helping Hand. After many months of planning the event finally went ahead on the 4th of June. The event attracted over 250 young people. During the event we had 2 DJ’s playing, Luke and Kris, and also 4 bands from the local area. These were: 3’s A Crowd, a local acoustic duo; Thems The Breaks, an upcoming band performing their first ever gig; Forever A Rumour, a female fronted rock band; and finally The Panic Storm, who were performing their last gig with their current members. The night had a glow in the dark theme, which proved popular with the crowd, in particular the glow sticks and balls which were thrown out. We also had a feedback wall, from which we gauged that the night was a massive success! As well as being popular with everyone who came, we also managed to raise over £400 for our chosen charity.
