| About the Northampton Voluntary
Youth Action group |
| |
The Millennium Volunteers scheme was set up in 1999 by the Government to support and develop youth volunteering opportunities across the country. The scheme aimed to work with young people aged 16 to 24 and help them to go out into the world and Build On What You’re Into.
In July 2007 the Northamptonshire Millennium Volunteer Project became a company limited by guarantee and changed its name to Northamptonshire Voluntary Youth Action. We continue to support young people aged 13 to 24 across Northamptonshire to get actively involved in their communities and to volunteer. Since the organisation’s inception in 2000, we have worked with an incredible 3500 volunteers, supporting them in a wide range of volunteering opportunities from working in their local charity shop to putting on amazing youth-led events all over the county.
From April 2008 NVYA will be funded by two main grants from Northamptonshire County Council and v – the youth volunteering charity and will be running the National Youth Volunteering Programme – vinvolved throughout Northamptonshire. |
